To find out about the options available to you, regulated financial advice firms can provide you with the most suitable course of action relating to a wide range of financial needs.

Alternatively, if you have attended a WEALTH at work financial education workshop, you can also have access* to regulated financial advice, provided by my wealth**. This can help you to understand your own personal financial situation and what options you may need to take if you need to mitigate any future tax charges.

Financial wellbeing

  • Visit The Money Advice Service Website and complete a budget planner. If you budget as a couple, it is a good idea to do this with your partner.
  • List your debts in terms of highest APR to lowest and set a SMART goal to pay them off, starting with the highest rate of interest.
  • If you’re struggling with debt, visit Money Advice Service to get help on how to overcome this.

Estate Planning

  • If you have not written a will, you should consider writing one. Click here to see who would inherit your belongings if you died without a will.
  • If you have written a will, find it and check if it still reflects your most up to date wishes.
  • If you would like to know more about setting up a power of attorney, visit the government website to find out about the process and costs involved.

Tax

  • Check your savings or investments. Are they held in the most tax efficient way? If you’re earning a high amount of interest it may be beneficial to move them to an ISA.
  • Could you gain a tax benefit from the marriage allowance? Check here to find out more.

Savings & Investments

  • After completing a budget planner, write down your savings and investment goals.
  • Calculate your monthly outgoings. Have you got an emergency fund that would see you through 3-6 months if you couldn’t work?
  • Check any investments that you have. Do they match your appetite for risk?
